After more or less three hours, Agnes and I arrived at Vigan, Ilocos Sur from Laoag, Ilocos Norte. The trip in an ordinary bus has been filled with random stops to pick up passengers as well as drop off some. The driver was a great... more

If there was a legacy to remember in 1986, it should be the resilience of the people to have a united front fighting for hope, sovereignty, and nationalism. Everyone was proud to be a Filipino, irregardless of class and distinction. The rich were... more

Sir, it's all right if no one was able to attend my conference today. :)

Greetings, Kim. I'd like to invite you to a YM conference next Friday, March 12, in celebration of my 18th birthday.

Good evening Kim-sensei. Can you write an article on why the Philippines hated communism during the mid-to-late 20th century in response to the 43 disappeared health workers?

You may want to consider it as your gift to my 18th birthday on March 12.
That's a tall order Mark. I plan to write something though about the 43 but from the context of human rights and due process.

I don't think the country ever hated communism. Siguro for those in the metros and comfortable lifestyles, they did. But in the rural areas undergoing militarism under Marcos, it was a different story. In reality, it was the communists who saved much of the dissidents in the country during Martial Law and a lot of those who worked with them during that time were not actually communists. You see there were only two groups in the Philippines back then, pro-Marcos and anti-Marcos. And the anti-Marcos are considered communists.

This is getting long Mark :) I will try to do the article soon and I will tell you when it's done. Advanced Happy Birthday! May you have more in life! :)
